Pass in 2nd PUC conducted by the Karnataka Department of Pre-University Education, or a 3-year Diploma in Commercial Practice, or an equivalent qualification (CBSE/ICSE Class 12, other state board Class 12, NIOS Senior Secondary course, or a 3-year diploma/2-year ITI/2-year vocational diploma combined with the specified NIOS language and subject courses), obtained by the last date for applying; In addition, a pass in the Senior Grade Typewriting examination (Kannada and English) conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, or a Diploma in Secretarial Practice, or equivalent, is required; Computer knowledge is essential, and as per High Court orders, the Kannada and English typing tests will be conducted on computer using the "Kwenpu-Nudi" Kannada typing keyboard layout.
