Even New Zealand ace Lockie Ferguson, who’s faced him in the IPL, calls him “unreal talent.” And he’s not alone. Sooryavanshi’s back-to-back IPL seasons have turned heads, and now he’s set to face the Kiwis in a high-stakes T20 series starting October 22. Ferguson, no stranger to Indian cricket after nearly a decade in the IPL, is actually excited; not intimidated; to go up against the young gun. He’s also making a comeback to NZ’s ODI squad after 3 years, targeting the next World Cup. What’s fascinating? Even at 35, Ferguson says he’s still learning; from young bowlers, veterans, and global cricket trends. T20, he believes, is pushing every format forward. So if a teen is already in India’s XI, maybe this is just the beginning. The future of cricket isn’t coming; it’s batting right now.
