Born from online satire after a Supreme Court judge called unemployed youth “cockroaches,” the CJP has turned anger into action. Their latest demand? Resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over voter list revisions that erased 130 million names. Authorities responded by shutting down metros, blocking roads, suspending mobile internet, and detaining over 10,000 protesters. The Supreme Court stepped in, calling blanket shutdowns excessive; but the damage is done. This isn’t just about one protest. It’s about youth demanding accountability, transparency, and fair elections. And with state elections around the corner, including in Uttar Pradesh, the pressure is building. The CJP may have started as a joke; but nobody’s laughing now.
