First, they’re ditching NDAs for data center deals, saying transparency matters more now. Second, they open-sourced a tiny but smart AI model called Strands Decider 2B; designed not to chat, but to decide. It’s built for automating workflows cheaply and fast, running right on your laptop. Why does this matter? Because not every AI needs to be a giant, expensive LLM. Some just need to pick the right option; and do it reliably. Critics are skeptical, especially after years of broken promises from Big Tech. But if small, open models like this start replacing bloated AI systems, it could make automation way more accessible; and harder for big players to control.
