A high-decibel concert in one of Hinduism’s holiest sites? Many are asking: how did this even get approved? The event, held under the Army’s Operation Sadbhavana and backed by local officials, featured DJs and dancing; drawing sharp criticism from BJP veteran Murli Manohar Joshi and environmentalists alike. Why? Because Badrinath isn’t just spiritual; it’s sitting on fragile glaciers. Locals have long avoided even blowing conch shells for fear of triggering avalanches. Yet, loud music was allowed; and not just allowed, but planned with district officials. Now, the Chamoli administration is banning such events... but only after the fact. The real question: was this a bureaucratic slip-up, or a case of responsibility being quietly passed around once things turned controversial? And with the CM himself attending, this isn’t just about sound levels; it’s about governance, faith, and the cost of ignoring ecological limits in our holiest, most delicate places.
