Countries agreed in 2022 to protect 30% of the planet, fix damaged ecosystems, and slash $500 billion in nature-killing subsidies. Two years later? Most are barely halfway there. The UK, which cheered loudest in Montreal, is on track to hit only 3 of 23 targets. Meanwhile, they’ve weakened their own nature laws, cut rainforest aid, and skipped protecting new wildlife sites since 2023. Even the UN calls it a ‘war on nature’; and warns good intentions won’t cut it. The real kicker? A biodiversity fund meant to raise hundreds of millions… got just $6,000. Conservationists say it’s not about promises anymore; it’s about delivery. And so far, delivery is failing. What happens next? That’s what COP 17 in Armenia is supposed to figure out. Spoiler: the clock is ticking.
