Of the 2,873 involved in July 20’s Parliament march, 989 had criminal records; including 101 with murder charges, 284 with dacoity/robbery, and 92 with crimes against women & children. Many were repeat offenders; 12 with 10+ cases. Some had multiple rape or NDPS charges. The protest was only approved at Jantar Mantar. Yet, they marched to Parliament; smashing barricades, attacking cops, vandalizing govt vehicles. Police say they used force only after repeated warnings failed. Now, student cases may be dropped. But what about the others? Because when criminals gatecrash a protest, it’s not dissent; it’s danger.
