No bans. No threats. Just practical choices; like switching firecrackers for diyas, avoiding plastic decorations, and segregating waste. The campaign, led by WWF-India and backed by the Environment Ministry, targets 130 polluted cities under the National Clean Air Programme. Why? Because festive pollution is real; but also preventable. Schools, RWAs, and families are being asked to take small, doable steps: LED lights, local crafts, pledge drives. It’s not about losing tradition; it’s about protecting the air your kids breathe. And here’s the kicker: it’s voluntary. No law. No fine. Just awareness. The real test? Will families choose change; not because they’re forced to, but because they want to? After all, the greenest Diwali isn’t the loudest. It’s the one you celebrate with care.
