In a surprise X post, Musk vowed to price Starlink “affordably” in India, explicitly calling out Ambani’s Jio for dominating the market with ultra-cheap data. What’s wild? Musk is accusing the Indian government; yes, the same one he once praised; of delaying Starlink’s entry to favor Jio. The government denies it, saying all satellite players (including Jio’s own satellite arm) are waiting for security clearances. But Musk isn’t backing down. He even sarcastically called Ambani “Prime Minister Ambani,” challenging him to let fair competition happen. This isn’t just about satellites anymore; it’s about who controls India’s next digital frontier. And with Jio’s IPO on the horizon, the timing couldn’t be sharper. Is this a pricing war waiting to happen? Or a battle for influence in India’s biggest tech market? Either way, the average Indian user might just win; if Musk follows through.
