It’s about democracy itself. While everyone’s eyes are on protest rallies demanding the CEC’s resignation, Naidu reminded us: institutions aren’t personal enemies. You can’t attack the Election Commission just because you lose an election. If it’s fair when you win, it shouldn’t be suspicious when you lose. He’s not defending anyone; he’s defending the system. The one that lets over 900 million people vote without chaos. The one that’s admired worldwide. And yes, if there are errors; like voter deletions; there are procedures. Go door-to-door. File appeals. Don’t grab headlines. What’s really striking? He’s speaking from 60 years inside the system. He’s seen parties accuse EVMs, the EC, even democracy; depending on who wins. That’s not accountability. That’s blame-switching. His message? Protest peacefully. Raise concerns legally. But don’t turn democracy’s pillars into punching bags. Because when the institution gets bruised, so does the trust of every voter; even the ones who didn’t even show up to the rally.
