In Mumbai, thousands stormed Shivaji Park chanting not for parties; but for democracy. Their target? Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Why? They believe his 'Special Intensive Revision' purged voters not for fraud; but for politics. One poster said it all: “Gyanesh, it’s done bro.” Another: “Next stop, Tihar Jail.” The Cockroach Janta Party isn’t joking. Founded by Abhijeet Dipke, they claim the SIR process began after BJP’s 2024 seat shock; 240, not 400. Their theory? Clean voter lists are a cover for silencing dissent. “They’re not removing ghosts,” said a protester from Pune. “They’re removing voters who might vote against them.” The crowd wasn’t just locals. From Manipur to Prayagraj, young Indians showed up; with books, banners, and biting slogans. One called Modi “Dimagi Vote Chor.” Another mocked him as “The King” with Kumar as his “parrot.” Even Sahil Phelim from Manipur demanded SIR + NRC combo; after seeing “elected reps from Burma” on ballots. BJP called them “Umar Khalid supporters.” They laughed it off. “We’re not anti-national,” said a 22-year-old from Ratnagiri. “We’re anti-corruption, anti-manipulation, anti-BJP’s game.” And here’s the twist: Mumbai Police? Calm. No lathi, no frisking, no batons. Just barriers; and a silent nod to civic spirit. October 2 was a holiday. Thousands came anyway. The message? “Suno Sarkar, Ab Ki Baar, Jhola Uthalo Yaar.” This isn’t a protest. It’s a warning. Democracy’s young guards are awake; and they’re not backing down.
