And here’s the kicker; your new rate can’t be higher than what you were paying before. No hidden fees either. Even if your bank wants to tweak the ‘spread’ part of your loan (like operating cost or risk premium), they can’t do it often; and certainly not without a solid reason. For most loans, rate resets will be capped at every 3 months. The goal? More transparency, fewer surprises. If your current loan benchmark gets discontinued (yes, it happens), the bank must replace it; and you can’t be worse off. This isn’t law yet, but it’s a sign the RBI is finally putting borrowers first. If you’ve got a floating-rate loan; home, car, or business; keep an eye out. Your EMI might just become more predictable. Because in finance, small changes usually mean big relief for real people. This one’s worth watching.
