The real story? Canada sees India as a gateway to unlock billions in GDP growth by 2035. During a high-profile business event in Bengaluru, Canadian Trade Minister Sidhu didn’t mince words: India isn’t just another market; it’s the market Canada can’t afford to ignore. With 1.4 billion people and 7% annual growth, India’s economy is on track to become the world’s third-largest. The duo is racing to seal a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by end of 2026; a deal expected to boost bilateral trade by up to $6.5 billion. Think AI, smart mobility, aviation, quantum computing; sectors where Canadian firms are already planting flags in India. Here’s what’s interesting: Canada’s not just investing. It’s building ecosystems. Take Bengaluru airport; powered by Canadian tech like Genetec and Transoft. Or Fairfax Financial’s stake in the airport’s development. Why does this matter for you? If you’re eyeing government jobs or export-linked roles, this partnership opens new doors; in tech policy, trade diplomacy, logistics, and cross-border compliance. CEPA isn’t just a document; it’s a signal. India’s commercial future is global. And Canada’s betting big on it.
