While the nation cheers for medals, para-shooters are accusing the Paralympic Committee of India of rigging selections for the Asian Para Games. One athlete ranked 3rd in Asia? Left out. Top-ranked shooters? Snubbed. And why? They say the rules were bent for others. Even the Sports Minister got pulled into it; but no clear fix yet. Meanwhile, in Gurugram, athletes lost 4 days of training because the Haryana CM’s helicopter was parked right on their track. Yes; at a stadium. Not a helipad. Repeatedly. India wants world-class athletes. But world-class support? Not so much. The real question: Can we win medals if we can’t even protect training time or ensure fair selection? This isn’t just about sport. It’s about whether we value our athletes enough to make space; literally and systemically; for them to shine.
