Rajah still praised India’s progress since 2012 (post-BALCO), calling it ‘impressive’. But he warned: setbacks like ad hoc arbitrations and inconsistent government messaging are hurting India’s credibility. His message? Fix internal trust first; Indian lawyers and businesses must believe in arbitration before foreigners will. And Gujarat? It can lead; by training specialist judges, setting clear timelines, and building its own arbitration bar. Because credibility isn’t built in press releases. It’s built in courtrooms. And consistency.
