India’s economy is growing — but not fast enough.

Economist Surjit Bhalla, ex-IMF and Modi’s EAC member, says we’re the 2nd best performer in BRICS and 26th globally at 5.2% growth. Sounds impressive? Think again. While India’s global income share rose from 2.5% to 3.5%, Vietnam; with 1/15th our population; surged from 0.52% to 1.5% in exports. Meanwhile, BRICS is now 68.9% China. We’re stuck at 1.88% of world exports while China alone drives 94% of BRICS export growth. Bhalla’s warning? Don’t mistake summits for progress. Real economic future? Look west; not east. America invested $100B in India; China, $2.5B. And remember, China runs a $112B trade surplus with us. The BRICS dream? A Chinese reality.
