It’s a smart move blending conservation, jobs, and culture. Only 718 snow leopards live in India; 477 of them in Ladakh; so this isn’t a zoo trip. It’s a high-altitude, community-run mission to protect them without shutting locals out. Six safari vehicles, trained local guides, and strict routes ensure wildlife isn’t disturbed. More importantly, 20 young locals are now guides, birdwatchers, and entrepreneurs. This isn’t just a safari; it’s sustainable development in action. For UPSC aspirants, this is golden: GS Paper II (community conservation) + GS Paper III (biodiversity + eco-tourism). Real-world example. Easy to remember. High impact.
