The real shock? They invoked a satirical youth party called the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ as proof that dissent is alive and well. Yes, you read that right; a party named after cockroaches, marching on Parliament, then sitting down with senior ministers. That’s not rebellion. That’s civic theater with teeth. India’s argument? You can’t base global criticism on anonymous surveys; especially when millions of young Indians are already shaping policy via government dialogues, student protests, and even exam-reform campaigns. The UN’s report? Dismissed as ‘hearsay in a UN jacket.’ But here’s the twist; while Delhi saw mass detentions during recent electoral roll protests, India insists those were necessary for public order. So who’s right? Depends on whether you value constitutional rights; or concrete evidence. Either way, this isn’t just diplomacy. It’s a battle over who controls the narrative of India’s youth; the UN… or the kids themselves.
