With over 300 GW of renewable capacity, we’re third in the world; yet power gets wasted when it’s needed most. Why? Transmission lines can’t carry it, and storage is still more promise than reality. The ₹1.36 lakh crore Green Energy Corridor Phase-III aims to fix this; adding 50 GWh of battery storage and strengthening intra-state networks. But here’s the catch: past projects stalled over land disputes, slow clearances, and unclear rules. The real test? Whether states and Centre can finally work together; because wind and sun don’t care about state borders. If they get this right, it’s not just about cleaner power; it’s about power that actually reaches your home when the AC’s running high. The energy transition won’t succeed on solar panels alone. It needs smart grids, smart policies, and smarter coordination. Let’s hope this time, the system doesn’t fail the source.
