S Jaishankar didn’t call for dumping the UN. He said it’s broken… but we can’t afford to walk away. Why? Because in a messy, multipolar world, even a flawed global body matters more than ever. The UN is gridlocked, yes; on Ukraine, Africa, pandemics. But instead of bypassing it, Jaishankar says: fix it. And he’s right. Imagine a global company with 51 employees in 1945. Now it has 193. Still run by the same 5 bosses? Doesn’t work. India’s pushing for reform; not rebellion. What’s fascinating? India’s standing tall as the voice of the Global South. Not just talking; negotiating with both Ukraine and Russia. Even after Indian sailors died in a Black Sea attack, New Delhi stayed in the middle; pushing for grain, energy, diplomacy. So while some say ‘let’s build new systems without the US’, Jaishankar’s response? ‘Good luck.’ The US still moves markets. You can’t rewrite global trade rules by excluding the biggest player. India’s foreign policy isn’t about picking sides. It’s about staying connected, building bridges, and making sure the developing world isn’t ignored. That’s not just diplomacy. It’s leadership; quiet, steady, and growing stronger by the day. The world’s changing. And India? It’s not just adapting. It’s shaping the new rules.
