Not outdated; broken. S Jaishankar didn’t mince words; calling the UN ‘gridlocked’ and ‘largely irrelevant’ in solving today’s biggest crises. Why? Because the same 5 countries still run the Security Council… while the world has grown 4x since 1945. India’s pushing hard for reform; and a permanent seat. And here’s the twist: some countries are using Africa’s name to block change, even though Africa itself has clearly laid out its reform demands. Jaishankar’s message? Don’t work around the UN; fix it. As the voice of the Global South, India isn’t just asking for a seat at the table; it’s demanding the table be rebuilt. The world’s watching. And India’s not waiting.
