Fast bowler Will O’Rourke, 25, is out for the entire tour with hamstring and calf injuries. His absence isn’t just a loss for NZ; it’s a reminder of how fragile top-tier athletic careers can be. Despite returning from a 7-month back injury only months ago, O’Rourke re-injured himself; now targeting a comeback before Australia’s Test series. NZ’s cautious approach? Smart. They’re protecting their future, not just this series. What’s more interesting is the domino effect: Mark Chapman and Zak Foulkes also ruled out from T20Is. Coaches aren’t gambling on comebacks; they’re planning ahead. As India prepares to tour, NZ’s squad is quietly being rebuilt. The real story? It’s not the injuries; it’s how teams are learning to protect their assets. And that’s worth watching.
