The dilemma? Whether to launch it with a key valve already open; a never-before-done move; or risk repeating the NVS-02 failure that left India’s navigation network short-staffed. Here’s why it matters: NavIC currently runs on just 3 satellites. It needs 4 to function properly. NVS-03 isn’t just another launch; it’s a lifeline. And the valve? It’s a one-time-use part. If the signal fails again, the satellite can’t correct its path. So engineers are weighing two evils: known failure vs. unknown risk. The decision could set a precedent. If ISRO goes with the open valve, it might become India’s first satellite to launch this way. That’s bold; especially when public safety and national infrastructure are at stake. This isn’t just rocket science. It’s risk management at its rawest. Would you delay the launch for more certainty? Or push ahead knowing the stakes? Either way, the next few weeks will tell us a lot about how India navigates uncertainty; in space and on Earth.
