Yes, the same gas that comes from cows. But don’t laugh. This isn’t kitchen science. It’s rocket science; and it’s happening right here, in India. By 2040, ISRO plans to land astronauts on the Moon. To get there, they’re building a new generation of rockets; powered by LOX-Methane engines. Why? Because methane burns cleaner, is easier to reuse, and; here’s the sci-fi twist; can even be made on Mars using local resources. In 2023, ISRO began developing a 1100kN engine called LME1100. Over 70% of its parts are 3D printed; made by Indian industries, not imported. Tests on igniters, turbopumps, and gas generators are already successful. A full-scale engine is expected by mid-2027. What’s even more exciting? They’re already designing a 2400kN engine for heavier lunar missions; using advanced Full Flow Staged Combustion tech. This isn’t just about launching satellites. It’s about making India a spacefaring nation; capable of taking humans beyond Earth. So next time someone says India can’t compete in space tech; show them this. We’re not just catching up. We’re building the future; one methane-fueled rocket at a time.
