Bangladesh’s education ministry is quietly overhauling its teacher training system, extending it from 1 year to 2.5–3 years, and scaling up capacity sixfold. Why? Because a teacher who’s never trained properly can’t deliver 21st-century learning. The new model? Two months on campus, then 10 months of hybrid learning; blending online and offline modules. And it’s not just government teachers; private school educators are getting in on the action too. Think of it: 42,000 teachers trained annually instead of 7,000. That’s a seismic shift. Plus, tablets for every teacher, solar-powered classrooms in remote areas, midday meals for every child by 2027, and even special allowances for teachers in haors and hills. This isn’t just policy. It’s a long game to fix education; one trained teacher at a time.
