They’re not protesting the government; they’re protesting the protests. Calling out what they see as a dangerous trend of using street agitations to undermine India’s constitutional institutions, these academics warn that democracy is being attacked; not saved; under the guise of defending it. With alumni scattered across 27 countries, they emphasize that dissent is vital, but must flow within constitutional boundaries. As they quote Ambedkar: hold fast to constitutional methods, not the grammar of anarchy. This isn’t about politics; it’s about protecting the system that makes Indian democracy unique: resilient, balanced, and enduring across decades. Their message? Don’t burn the house to fix the roof.
