But here’s the twist: MeitY itself admits it has *no official data* on data centre capacity. The framework asks states to publish approval matrices with timelines, escalation points, and even map who’s responsible for each data-related role; including Data Fiduciaries under the DPDP Act. It’s not just about speed; it’s about accountability, sustainability, and transparency. States like UP, Gujarat, and Karnataka already have policies; but this framework wants them to standardise, track, and prove impact. The goal? Shift from competing on who announces more projects, to who delivers better, greener, and more efficient ones. Interesting part? The audit mechanism is centralised, but the data backing it? From secondary sources. That’s a red flag for those watching governance realness. If you’re eyeing policy jobs or tech infrastructure roles, this is your signal to pay attention; it’s the quiet blueprint for India’s digital backbone.
