For two days straight, MPs from across Opposition parties have refused to let business proceed until the government agrees to discuss the NEET leak controversy; and the police crackdown on student protesters in Delhi. Congress MP Manickam Tagore laid down three non-negotiable demands: A full discussion in Parliament, resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and withdrawal of all FIRs against the protesting students. Despite Rahul Gandhi personally meeting Speaker Om Birla and even visiting injured students, the government hasn’t budged. And the Opposition isn’t backing down either. In both Houses, slogans replaced speeches. Banners were raised. And within minutes of sitting down, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned; again. What’s at stake? Not just one exam. But trust. Students who spent years preparing feel betrayed. Parents are furious. And the political cost of ignoring this storm is rising by the hour. The government says Parliament has rules. The Opposition says rules don’t matter when justice is being ignored. And so, the stalemate continues; with no end in sight.
