But in 2026, she stood on the podium at the Asian Para Games, holding a bronze medal for India. That’s not just a win; it’s a career switch, a personal transformation, and a silent revolution in Indian para sports. What makes her story extraordinary? She didn’t just walk into sports. She walked away from a stable tech job, battled a neurological condition, and trained relentlessly under SAI’s Khelo India programme. Since 2023, she’s won 12 international medals; and now, she’s India’s first-ever medalist in Women’s Singles Class 6 Para Table Tennis at the Asian Para Games. Behind her success? Not luck; infrastructure. SAI Gandhinagar gave her three daily training sessions, physio, mental conditioning, and even sent her abroad three times for exposure. Plus, over ₹26 lakh funded her preparation. This isn’t just her win; it’s proof that when you invest in athletes, they deliver. For every young girl or athlete with a disability thinking, “What’s the point?”; Prachi’s journey says: Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can. And if the system supports you? Watch what you become. Her medal isn’t just metal. It’s momentum; for India’s para athletes, for policy, and for the belief that sport can be rewritten; one determined soul at a time.
