On October 18, 2026, they’ll walk together as India’s flag bearers at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games. That’s not just an honor; it’s a statement. India’s para-athletes are no longer just participating. They’re leading. Bhagat, with 6 medals (2 gold) in para-badminton, and Patel, with 2 (1 silver) in para-table tennis, carry more than the Tricolour; they carry the hopes of a nation learning to celebrate ability over disability. This moment isn’t just ceremonial. It’s symbolic. Their journey from local courts to global podiums mirrors India’s own evolution in para-sports; from invisibility to visibility, from sympathy to celebration. As they lead the contingent, they remind us: greatness doesn’t ask for permission. It just shows up. And India is finally watching.
