They weren’t there for a photo-op. They were protesting the Chief Election Commissioner’s alleged unilateral changes to voter registration forms; changes the Supreme Court says it never approved. The protest turned heated when police blocked their march to EC headquarters. Instead of backing down, they climbed barricades, sat under trees, and even boarded a detention bus; only for Priyanka to step out and rejoin her brother. Behind the slogans like “Vote chor, gaddi chhod” lies a real fear: that voter rolls; the very foundation of democracy; are being tampered with without transparency. The EC insists decisions were unanimous. But the Supreme Court’s sharp note raises questions no one can ignore. This isn’t just about one CEC. It’s about who controls the rules of the game; and whether those rules are open to public scrutiny. The real story? When the guards refuse to let you in, sometimes the only way to be heard is to sit down; right where they don’t want you to.
