Why? Because 80% of the country’s poor live in villages, stuck in subsistence farming with almost zero access to markets, credit, or tech. The government admits it failed them; for decades. Now, they’re betting that connecting villages to cities, digitizing supply chains, and funding micro-enterprises could flip the script. One standout move? A loan scheme that’s already pumped ₹18 billion into rural pockets; without asking for collateral. Rural poverty, they say, won’t vanish overnight. But if you give people access to tools, not just welfare, they might just build their own escape routes.
