Over 100 employees are under the scanner; appointed outside legal recruitment rules. The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) is demanding their termination. Why? Because merit is being bypassed. And students are paying the price. Back in 2019, NSF pushed hard for the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) to be set up; to ensure transparency. It finally started working in 2022. But since then, 109 questionable appointments have surfaced across 16 departments. Some were made even after the NSSB was formed. Others were regularized or given compassionate posts; but NSF says many don’t meet legal criteria. The government admitted 7 employees were already terminated or resigned. But 102 more remain; and NSF won’t let it slide. They’ve given a clear ultimatum: Terminate or face public protests. What’s at stake? Not just jobs; but fairness. Young aspirants who clear exams are being sidelined for those who got in the backdoor. And NSF says this isn’t just about Nagaland; it’s about setting a precedent for meritocracy across India’s Northeast. Will the government act? Or will students take to the streets? Keep watching; this story isn’t over.
