It’s about your vote. At Jantar Mantar, student groups are gathering to demand the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner; not over corruption or scandal; but because 1.37 crore names vanished from voter lists overnight. That’s more than the population of Australia. They say the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ exercise was meant to clean the rolls. But to many, it feels like a silent purge; quietly erasing voters, especially young and urban ones. The protest isn’t just in Delhi. In Mumbai, a quirky new party; the Cockroach Janta Party; is staging its own 'Jail Bharo Andolan' (Fill the Jails Movement), even though police denied permission. Meanwhile, AAP’s Atishi says, 'If your right to vote is in danger, so is democracy.' And she’s not alone. Police have barricaded roads, shut metro stations, and activated strict laws to control the crowd; which they expect to be around 1,500 strong. This isn’t just a student protest. It’s a warning: when electoral rolls get cleaned without transparency, democracy doesn’t just cough; it gasps. Your vote isn’t guaranteed. It’s guarded; and sometimes, you have to march to keep it.
