The government is spending crores on new water projects—but in Wardha, Maharashtra, they’re quietly spending ₹0 on spare parts for handpumps.

Yes, zero. That’s not a typo. The tender for India Mark II handpump spare parts; critical for rural drinking water; shows an estimated value of ₹0 crore. But bidders still need to pay ₹6,000 to apply and ₹1 lakh as EMD. Why? Because this isn’t about new construction; it’s about keeping existing pumps running. These are the unsung heroes of rural water supply, and when they break, villages suffer. The tender is open till Nov 5, 2026. No flashy announcements. No media coverage. Just routine maintenance that keeps millions from walking miles for water. Sometimes, the most important government work doesn’t make headlines; it just keeps life running.
