And the NGT didn’t give them a fair chance to defend themselves. Even more telling? The court didn’t just let Art of Living off the hook; it sharply criticized the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for even allowing the event on protected land. The real failure wasn’t the event organizers. It was the regulators who said yes. Meanwhile, in Karnataka, a High Court has paused a govt. SIT probing alleged land encroachments by Art of Living affiliates. The trust argues: no survey, no boundary check, no case. The government can’t just jump to conclusions; or create special teams without legal backing. What’s the bigger lesson? When big events get green signals from authorities; and then blamed later; who should really be held accountable? The organizers? Or the ones who approved the land in the first place? Maybe the most important part of this isn’t about yoga. It’s about governance.
