Not just for one year. Not for five. But with options to stretch it even longer. Why? Because they’re not preparing for war. They’re preparing to avoid it; by making sure they never run out of bullets. This isn’t just about launching missiles. It’s about locking in factories, hiring workers, and rewiring supply chains. Raytheon, the maker, says they’re rebuilding their entire production line; adding automation, hiring more hands, and upgrading facilities; all to hit war-speed output. And here’s the twist: The SM-6 isn’t just an air defense missile. It can hunt ships, shoot down missiles, and even strike land targets. One missile. Three jobs. The Pentagon’s message? “Don’t let our sailors fight fair.” That means overwhelming force; not bravery. And to do that, they’re spending billions now so they don’t lose later. This contract is part of a bigger playbook; including a $20.7 billion deal for AMRAAM missiles last week. Together, they’re not just buying weapons. They’re buying time, certainty, and industrial muscle. For India’s defence aspirants; this is the future: not just soldiering, but scaling. The real battlefield isn’t just on land, sea, or air. It’s in factories, supply chains, and strategic planning. The lesson? In modern warfare, the person who controls production… controls the outcome.
