While the airport itself is a major development milestone for western UP, naming it after the PM adds a layer of political branding few states have dared to replicate at this scale. Yogi Adityanath linked the decision to Modi’s broader legacy; Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Ram Temple, Maa Annapurna’s return; framing infrastructure as part of national identity. Critics may question if public assets should carry political names, but supporters see it as recognition of leadership that transformed UP’s transport map; expressways, RRTS, metro, and now, a world-class airport. The real story? It’s not about the name; it’s about how states are beginning to align development projects with national narratives. One airport. Many messages.
